Jeep plans Europe expansion with new Renegade

Jeep wants to significantly expand its model range in Europe by 2030. At the center are the return of the Renegade and plans for a very compact model.

Jeep wants to significantly broaden its European model lineup by 2030. Xavier Peugeot, Head of Jeep Brand Europe, announced at the Paris Motor Show that the brand aims to offer up to six models in Europe in the future. The B-SUV, C-SUV and D-SUV segments are to be covered. The strategy does not rely only on electric cars, but on multiple platforms and drive types, including combustion engines with and without hybrid technology.

Renegade set to return before 2030

A key role will be played by the next generation of the Jeep Renegade. The compact SUV is set to return to the European market before 2030. The model is important for Jeep there: since its launch in 2014, more than 610,000 Renegades have been sold in Europe. Production of the previous European version ended in 2025; in South America, an updated version is still offered. Based on the current state of information, the new Renegade is expected to use the group’s STLA One platform, which according to previous information is set to be used for the first time in 2027. Whether the Renegade will be the first model on this architecture has not been confirmed.

Avenger, Compass and Recon add to the lineup

In the smaller B-SUV segment, the Avenger remains a central component. Since its market launch, it has found nearly 300,000 buyers. In Italy it is currently the best-selling SUV, as it already was in 2024 and 2025; across all classes and drive types, it ranks second there in the sales statistics. In the C-SUV segment, Jeep is relying on the new generation of the Compass, which is intended to compete more strongly with Europe’s leading compact SUVs. The brand also aims to become more present again in the D segment: after the discontinuation of the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Wrangler, the 4.5-meter-long Compass is currently the largest Jeep model in Europe. The electric Jeep Recon will lead the move into the larger segment. Another model is announced for 2028, without Jeep naming it specifically in the current plan. According to the company, an all-wheel-drive version is planned for every model line.

Smaller Jeep for the period after 2030

Beyond 2030, Jeep is also examining particularly compact, electrified mobility solutions for Europe. That would expand the brand’s model range below the Avenger. Jeep cites the historic Willys icon as a point of reference: the original Jeep weighed around one ton and was 3.4 meters long. Concrete technical data, a market launch or a name for this mini model were not announced.
