VW plans second-generation ID. Buzz
Volkswagen wants to continue the ID. Buzz with a second generation. The electric van is set to move to the SSP platform and become less expensive.

VW plans a second generation of the ID. Buzz. VW CEO Thomas Schäfer confirmed the continuation of the electric bus to British Auto Express around the Paris Motor Show. The current model, now four years old, has been refreshed with updates; the next generation is set to follow only at the end of the current model cycle. As this is expected to last another four years, a new ID. Buzz would not be expected before 2030, according to the report.
The new generation is set to move from the current MEB architecture to the group’s SSP platform. More range, shorter charging times through higher charging power and more modern software are cited. In addition, SSP is expected to reduce costs through its use in many future electric models and thereby enable a lower selling price. Schäfer also names less expensive lithium iron phosphate batteries as a lever; such LFP batteries have already been introduced in the current ID. Buzz. The ID. Buzz currently starts at around 52,300 euros. On design, VW design chief Andreas Mindt announced further development without constantly repeating the same retro elements.
