Honda Hybrid launches in 2027

Honda is announcing a new generation of its hybrid drive. The first models are due in 2027, and by March 31, 2030 the manufacturer plans 15 hybrid models worldwide.

Honda is revising its current hybrid technology and is introducing the next generation under the name Honda Hybrid. The first models with the new drive are due to come to market in 2027. By the end of the fiscal year on March 31, 2030, the manufacturer plans 15 next-generation hybrid models worldwide, initially with a focus on North America. The realignment follows a roadmap presented in May 2026, with which Honda aims to shift development and production resources more strongly toward the hybrid business.

Technically, Honda Hybrid is based on the existing e:HEV system, the two-motor hybrid drive marketed under this name since 2020. Honda aims to further develop key components, expand the high-efficiency operating range of the combustion engine, and make the drive unit more efficient and more compact. Also named are a newly developed platform with optimized body rigidity and weight reduction, a further developed Motion Management System, and an electric all-wheel-drive system called e-AWD. Honda has not yet provided specific figures for motor output, battery size, consumption or electric range.
