Omoda X Concept previews angular SUV with karaoke system

New CarsTechnology

Omoda has unveiled the X Concept in China. The study previews a larger SUV with off-road styling, 20 centimeters of ground clearance and a karaoke function.

Omoda has unveiled the Omoda X Concept at the global “Omoda & Jaecoo International User Summit” in China. The study previews an SUV that could be positioned above the Omoda 7 and combines a strongly angular design with a spacious interior. One unusual equipment detail is a karaoke system with four microphones distributed around the cabin.

Angular appearance with off-road cues

The concept vehicle adopts an evolved design language already hinted at by the Omoda 4. The body is drawn wide, with pronounced shoulders, sharp surfaces and a tightly modeled waistline. The roof is finished in contrasting black. At the front are LED lights with arrowhead-shaped daytime running lights, while the rear uses LED taillights in a lightning-bolt design. Plastic cladding on the wheel arches is intended to reinforce the robust impression.

Omoda also gives concrete figures for the study that match its off-road appearance: ground clearance is 20 centimeters, while wading depth is 70 centimeters. Omoda also promises around 1,800 kilograms of towing capacity. The brand does not provide details on the powertrain.

Interior with screens, buttons and voice control

In the cockpit, Omoda uses a dashboard with a “double-wing” design and a floating, X-shaped center console. A 10.25-inch digital instrument display sits in front of the steering wheel, with a 13.2-inch touchscreen centrally positioned on the dashboard. Physical controls remain for frequently used functions such as climate control and driving modes. The equipment is supplemented by AI-based voice control and a night-vision system using infrared technology. Whether and when a production version of the Omoda X will follow was not stated.
